Camping and Hiking Essentials

July 29, 2008  |  Difficulty: Easy

It doesn’t matter if you are camping in a rural area or going on a vigorous hike – both trips require a plethora of essentials. After all, you never know when bad weather is going to strike or if you somehow get lost in the wild. Sadly, these situations are more than common. Have you ever heard of the phrase, “Hope for the best but plan for the worst?” In a situation such as this one, it is imperative that you live by this motto.

Don’t know what the camping and hiking essentials are? These include: informing friends and family of your whereabouts, forecasting the weather, maps, compasses, first aid kits, Swiss army knife, additional food, clothing, and water, storage compartments, matches, flashlight or headlamp, fire starter, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, whistle, water purifier, cell phone as well as a PDA. While it seems that this list is overloaded and just not necessary, you always have to be prepared. Again, the less you bring, the more dangerous a situation would be.
