Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Introduced

At the recent Xiaomi press conference, there was a big flurry of news for the fans. Apart from the expected launch of a new MIUI 7, they also came with the long-awaited Xiaomi Note 2 smartphone. This phone, as we are used to from Xiaomi, brings an excellent price/performance ratio and it will be sold in three versions, which differ from each other by support of wireless networks and storage size, while the cheapest of them should be available for a little over $200. The best equipped version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has got the nickname Prime.

The phone uses the 5.5" display again, however, compared to the previous version it has FullHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution and thus more than sufficient 401 ppi (pixels per inch) display density. What is very interesting is the information about the minimum brightness is 10 times lower, which should be now 0.5 cd/m2, and because of this the display will not strain your eyes in the dark. Performance is again presented by the Helio 64bit X10 chipset from MediaTek workshop, but this time it is a high-end chipset from this Taiwanese manufacturer. This provides plenty of power thanks to its eight core Cortex-A53 clocked at 2.2 GHz and graphic chip PowerVR G6200. Two basic variants of the Xiaomi Note 2 will offer an internal storage capacity of 16 GB, and the Prime model incorporates 32GB storage. The support of the memory card manufacturer was not mentioned during the presentation, so we have to be patient and wait for this information. All versions of the phone however contain two gigabytes of RAM, which is definitely a good improvement in comparison with the previous version. Except the cheapest version Xiaomi Note 2 supports FDD-LTE, but at the moment we have no information about specific supported frequencies. Components of the primary camera comes from Samsung and OmniVision workshops. This main camera will offer a 13 megapixel resolution, technology of phase sharpening, a set of five lenses and aperture f / 2.2. Front camera above the display comes from OmniVision and offers 5 megapixel resolution.

Xiaomi Note 2 now comes with a new infrared port for controlling home electronics. The battery has a capacity of 3060 mAh, which should ensure sufficient battery life per one charge. Dimensions of the Xiaomi Note 2 are 152 x 76 x 8.25 mm with the weight stabilized at 160 grams. The good news is that the phone will arrive to the first customers with the latest version of MIUI 7 already pre-installed running on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

And how much will the individual variants of the Xiaomi Note 2 cost? The basic 16GB version without international FDD-LTE will be released for 799 yuan (approximately $200), and for the model with the same capacity internal storage but with support FDD-LTE will be  899 yuan (approximately $220) and the best  equipped model, called Prime, with FDD-LTE and 32GB internal storage will be  priced about 999 yuan (approximately $240).
